S. P. MILLERSamuel Presley Miller, was a son of Samuel and Priscilla Miller, He was born in Rockbridge county, Va., March 8, 1847 [sic]. He left Virginia with his parents in 1855. Came to Scotland County, Mo., in March, 1856, where he has since made his home.He was married Oct, 1st, 1878, to Priscilla Jenkins, who preceded him in death, February, 1917 [sic]. To this union three children were born: Mary Marie of Columbia, Mo.; Hugh Miller of Memphis, and Margaret Powell, of Doe Run, Mo.; there are twelve grand children.He was baptized in infancy at Hebridge Church, Va., August 1st, 1847. He joined the Presbyterian Church in Memphis in his youth and has ever lived a consistent Christian life. Was made an elder in the Presbyterian Church in Memphis more then thirty years ago.Besides the children and garndchildren [sic], he leaves one sister, Mrs. A. P. Patterson; one brother, C.C. Miller, of Clearfield, Iowa, and numerous other relatives.Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church, Saturday, Jan. 9, at 1 p. m. conducted by Rev. H. V. McColloch, pastor.
