On Tuesday, April 14, Monmouth Presbytery will resume its stated meeting, and in the afternoon a pilgrimage will be taken to Old Scots burying ground, the site of the original meeting house, about five miles from Old Tennent Church. Old Scots dates back to the beginnings of the parish, and the first pastor, Rev. John Boyd, was buried there in 1708. He was the first Presbyterian minister regularly ordained inn this country. Returning to Old Tennent Church from honoring this pioneer pastor of the denomination, the pilgrims will listen to an address by Rev. Dr. Hugh Thomson Kerr, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly. Moderator Kerr came from Canada; his antecedents from Europe. The father of Old Tennent Church was Walter Ker, a refugee Covenanter from Scotland, who was buried in Old Scots graveyard in 1748. [The Monmouth Inquirer (Freehold, NJ), 9 Apr 1931]
