Was of Welsh-Scotch descent. Married Martha Ann "Patsy" Cravens in 1839 in Kentucky. Unsure where actual burial is. He left his wife a widow with 10 children.
George W. Jenkins served in the Civil War as a corporal in Company A, 21st Missouri Volunteer Infantry. George was shot in a Confederate ambush while headed for Vicksburg, Miss. on the steamer Sir William Wallace down a river in Mississippi. He was wounded severely in the side and according to the report by commanding Lt. Edwin Moore, may have died the following day.
