Pierre Du Bois - History

Pierre DuBois Jr. was born in 1599 at Herseaux, West Flanders, Belgium. He was the son of Pierre DuBois and Jeanne Desmullie. A contract for the marriage of Pierre DuBois Jr. and Catherine Wibaut Clarisse was signed on 25 August 1622 at Walloon Church, Cantebrury, Kent, England. Pierre DuBois Jr. and Catherine Wibaut Clarisse were received by the Wallon Church in Leyden from the Walloon Church in Canterbury, England at Walloon Church, Leyden, Netherlands, between August 1623 and February 1624. Pierre DuBois Jr. married Marie Pouchain on 31 October 1633. A contract for the marriage of Pierre DuBois Jr. and Marie Pouchain was signed on 24 November 1633 at Walloon Church, Cantebrury, Kent, England. Pierre DuBois Jr. and Marie Pouchain resided at at Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands, in 1643. Pierre DuBois Jr. he received an attestation from the Walloon Church in Amsterdam for Leiden at Walloon Church, Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands, 9 June 1653. He he was received by the Walloon Church in Leiden at Walloon Church, Leyden, Netherlands, August 1653. He died in 1679.

Pierre was born around 1600, possibly on the 1 Oct 1598 in Herseaux, Walloon Region, Belgium on the French border, near the town of Lille. He married on the 25 Aug 1622 in Canterbury, Kent, England where his family had taken refuge from religious persecution.

"1622 . . . Marriage contract between Pierre Du Bos, son of Pierre, assisted by his father, Jean and Jacques du Bos, his brothers; and Catherinne Clarisse, daughter of the late Jean, assisted by Anthoine [le Conte], her grandfather, and Jean Freleu and Anthoine le Clerq, her godfathers." In Aug 1623 the new couple was received by the Walloon Church in Leiden, South Holland, Netherlands from the Walloon Church in Canterbury. They only stayed in Leiden until Feb 1624 when they returned to Canterbury and had five children baptized. Catherine died in Canterbury on the 17 Sep 1633 and Pierre married second at the Walloon Church in Canterbury on the 24 Nov 1633 by contract, as follows: "1633 Oct. 31. Marriage contract between Pierre Du Bois, widower, assisted by Jean, Jaques, and Lauren Du Bois, his brothers, and Abraham Flamen, his uncle; and Marie Pouchain, daughter of Jacob, assisted by Jean Lagache, her cousin, and Nicolas Ferret son bel oncle. Mention of the five children (unnamed), of the said Pierre by Catherine Clarisse, his late wife. Witness: A. Denis." In 1643 Pierre and Marie moved to Amsterdam and were received into the Walloon Church in Amsterdam, North Holland, Netherlands on the 10 Aug 1643. On the 9 Jun 1653 Pierre du Bois received an attestation from the Walloon Church in Amsterdam for Leiden, and in Aug 1653 he was received by the Walloon Church in Leiden. Presumably his wife Marie was deceased by this date. No further record has been found for Pierre.
