Antoine le Conte
Antoine emigrated from Tournai, Walloon Region, Belgium to Canterbury, Kent, England, arriving on the 11 May 1591. He is listed as one of the Elders and Deacons of the Walloon Church in Canterbury in 1596. The name of his first wife, whom we are descended from, is unknown. Antoine married second at the Walloon Church in Canterbury on the 2 Sep 1602 by contract, as follows: "1602 August 10. Marriage contract between Antoine Le Comte, accompanied by Mr. Jean de Riquebourg and Andrien Bacler, his friends; and Franchoise De Le Rue, widow of Loys Theuelin, accompanied by Jean Lagnel, her god-father, and Jean du Forest, her brother-in-law, and Jacques Bonnet. Mention of Sarra le Comte (daughter of the said Anthoine). Witness. M. de Bourges." "2 September 1602, marriage of Antoine Le Conte vefu, natif de Tournay Et Francoise De La Rue Ve(fue) de feu Louis Theuhelin natifue d'Armentieres." Antoine died on the 4 Jan 1623 in Canterbury.
