He originally lived at St. Mary's Hundred, then moved to St. George's. He represented in the Maryland General Assemby, where he continued to be elected as a burgess (a governing authority) until 1643. He was involved with the civil war in Maryland, actively participating in the rebellion against Governer Leonard Calvert.
