He was the son of Maas Van Buren. He married Catalyntje Martense Van Alstyne about 1635 at Houten, Utrecht, Holland, the Netherlands. She was a daughter of Martin (of Meppel) Van Alstyne. Cornelis and Catalyntje had five children. Two of these children were my ancestors since their descendants in future generations married each other. Hendrick was born Jan. 30, 1636/7 at sea from Holland to New Amsterdam, ancestor Marten was born 1638 - 1640 possibly at New Amsterdam, New York, New York, Tobias was born 1642 - 1647 near Albany, New York, Maas was born 1642 - 1647 near Albany, New York, and Christina-Styntje was born May 19, 1644 near Albany, New York.
Christina married Major Dirck Wesselsen Ten Broeck about 1663. Christina and Dirck were ancestors of mine as well as the parents of Catherine Ten Broeck who married Jan (John) Leggett as her first husband. One of the children of Catherine Ten Broeck and Jan Leggett was Christina Leggett (born about 1693) who married Claude Le Maistre (Delamater). Their daughter Christina Delamater married Johannes Tobias Van Deusen in 1750 as his first wife. She died about 1769 and I am descended from their son John J. Van Deusen (died 1802) who married Fytje (Sophia) Hallenbeck (died 1833). Both John J. Van Deusen and his wife Sophia Hallenbeck are buried in part of a cornfield near Spook Rock on the border of Greenport and Claverack, Columbia County, New York. Their daughter, Maria Van Deusen, born in January of 1789 married Leonard Freeland in October of 1806 at the Dutch Reformed Church of Claverack, Columbia County, New York and had a son John Freeland, born July 28, 1807 who married Eliza C. Bryan at St. Paul's (Episcopal) Chapel in Manhattan in July of 1844. Leonard Freeland, his wife Maria Van Deusen, and their son John Freeland (died December 1860) are buried in Hudson at the Hudson City Cemetery. Also buried there is John Freeland's wife, Eliza C. Bryan (died March 1901 at Philadelphia) who married Joseph Simonson, Jr. as her second husband in October of 1864 at Hudson, New York.
Christina's brother Marten (also an ancestor of mine) had two wives. The first wife was Maria-Maritje P. Quackenbush (my ancestor) and the second wife was Jannecke-Jane Adams.
