BASIC INFO: Maritje Ariens (1617-1682) was born in Kouderherk, Netherlands. In 1640, she married Pieter Quackenbush (there are many spelling variations of this last name). Together, Maritje and her husband Pieter came to New York in 1653. Maritje died in 1682 in what is now Albany, Albany, New York. CHILD: Magdalena Quackenbush (1660-1756)
BURIAL: Maritje would have originally been buried out of the Reformed Dutch Church or in a Family Plot, but these graves were relocated to the new Albany Rural Cemetery facility IN Menands, after 1845. "Tradition holds that the remains were loaded on wagons and carried out Northern Boulevard to their present location in Menands."
