Henry Thornton was the son of Thomas T. Thornton and Eleanor Brady. He was born in Vermilion Co. Ill, moved to Boone Co. Ind. then to Polk Co. Iowa and Jasper Co. Mo; Barry Co. Mo. and died in Lawrence Co. Mo. buried in Thomas Cemetery later called Fellowship Cem. On 23 Aug. 1856 he married Sarah Thornton Haworth. Her first husband, Elias Cook and their 3 children, Elias Jr., Emily and Orlando, had all died of Cholera. Sarah T. Haworth's parents were George Haworth and Mary Thornton. Henry and Sarah had 6 children: Mary M., John Franklin, Wm.S., Pheba Jane, George T. and an infant who died at birth. Sarah died 10 Feb. 1900. Henry outlived all his children except John Franklin Thornton.
