Hi Sue,

My Margaret Barclay was a daughter of (possibly Robert) Barclay and
Margaret Kerr. In the Bible of one James Barclay Carlisle of Loudon
County, Virginia was found a list of births:
Margaret Kerr, born, July 6 1695
Margaret Barclay " Jan 9, 1711
Elizabeth Barclay " June 10, 1716
Catherine Barclay " April 24, 1718
Robert Barclay " Mar. 3, 1723
Samuel Barclay " Mar. 23, 1726
Walter Barclay " Feb. 14 1729
Martha Brown, Sept. 5, 1737
Mary Brown, Nov 18 1740

Mary Brown married David Carlisle

This old Bible was in the posession of Hazel Allyn of Purcellville,
Virginia on August 12, 1979. As she was at that time 84 years old,
I presume that she is dead by this time. What has happened to the
Bible, I do not know. Hazel was a granddaughter of James Barclay
Carlisle. She left no descendants.

Margaret Kerr Barclay married, after her husband's death, James
Brown, and by him had two daughters, Martha and Mary. In her will,
proved in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Margaret Kerr Barclay Brown
mentioned the three sons she had by Barclay and the two daughters
she had by James Brown. She designated one Barclay son and her
son-in-law, David Carlisle as executors. She did not mention her
Barclay daughters in her will, presumably as she had given them
a dowry at their marriages.
