'Christening: 26 Aug 1610 Saint Mary Major, Exeter, Devon, England'

While other IGI entries (and the Ancestral File) give the place as Honiton on Otter, Devon, England, this entry seems to be the only one that gives the date as her christening (rather than birth) date, and thus is likely more authentic.

'One Richard Martyn and Elizabeth Salter were married at Ottery on 9 June 1630, quite likely he being that much younger brother of Robert who died "aged" at Rehoboth, leaving a will proved 7 Mary 1695 (Charles H. Pope, The Pioneers of Massachusetts, 1900, p. 303).'
Holman, Mary Lovering. Notes on Some Immigrants from Ottery St. Mary, Devon, England. American Genealogist (D.L. Jacobus). (1939), 16:132.

'This name is spelled Ellis als Salter, Salter als Ellis, Ellis, and Salter on the Registers of Ottery St. Mary, Devon.'
The article goes on to talk about the family of John Ellis als Salter, 'possibly son of Robert Salter als Ellis.'

In the Ancestral File (AFN: CQ34-T2), Elizabeth's name is given as Salter or Ellis, and her father's name as either Robert Salter Ellis or William Salter. Since Robert Salter als Ellis appears to have had another daughter named Elizabeth christened in 1616, it is unlikely he was the father of the Elizabeth Salter who married Richard Martin (in 1630). Therefore, it is likely that her name was simply Elizabeth Salter.

'Birth: 26 Aug 1610 Honiton on Otter, Devon, England ...
Death: Rehoboth, Bristol, Massachusetts
Burial: 3 Mar 1666 Ottery, St.mary, Devon, England'

Her burial information likely represents a confusion with another person (possibly Elizabeth (Martin) Pester, who was buried 7 Mar 1666 in Ottery St Mary [IGI film #457048]). Elizabeth (Salter) Martin's death date appears to be unknown.
