English Monarch. Queen consort of King Henry I. Daughter of King Malcolm III Canmore of Scotland and Saint Margaret of Scotland. She married Henry on November 11, 1100. She was born Edith, but changed her name to Matilda upon her marriage, in honor of her mother-in-law, Matilda of Flanders. They had four children; Euphemia, William, Matilda, and Richard. She died at Westminster at the age of 39.
