"Peter was in the American Colonies before 1700. He also married prior 1700, perhaps in present
State of Delaware, then a part of Pennsylvania.
Both Peter and Mary Watkins died in Old Frederick County, Virginia, in the portion that became part of West Virginia later. Peter was still alive in 1742 for he was a member of Capt. George Robinson's Company of Militia, one of 12 companies named that year to keep the Indians pushed back."
There is evidence to indicate Peter and Mary Watkins had other children besides the son, Evan, born 1710 in Virginia. A Peter Watkins born 1742 in Delaware; died in Maryland during service in the Revolutionary War. His descendants proving their claim for NSDAR membership list this Peter's line thus: Peter b. Delaware; d. Maryland. He was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Worley ) Watkins, and Thomas was the son of Peter and Mary Watkins, therefore a brother to our Evan.
