Rev. James Scott was a member of the "Ohio Company of Virginia" and held one full share of that company's twenty shares. He also served as clerk for the company. This Scott family was very wealthy as well as well educated. This Rev. James Scott was the father of James as well as Gustavus Scott. The son, James, was the father of Sarah Scott who married James Summerville at Greensburg, Pa., in 1796. Sarah Scott said she was born in Westmoreland county, Pa., so her parents must have been living there in 1774, the year Sarah was born.
