Description:
He was a clerk of the council of the Star Chamber until 1549. It was an English court of law that sat at the royal Palace of Westminster from the late 1400's to circa 1641. It was established to ensure the fair enforcement of laws against socially and politically prominent people so powerful that ordinary courts would likely hesitate to convict them of their crimes.
