The Du Bois family were known as Grand Masters of the Forests of France. All family records were intentionally destroyed by Louis XIV since they were Protestant. Lands and goods were confiscated and their names were erased and torn out of all church records. Antoine held the titles of Chevalier, Seigneur de Vermeilles.
