George was a fisherman on the coast of Maine for many years.  His house was at the north end of Main Street, just north of the present Olney Street close to the junction of the West and Moshosick River. In 1663, he was allowed a small parcel between the two rivers.

George Way, according to Winthrop's journal..."a Mr. Way with five sons were passengers on the ship Lyon, Captain Pierce master, for the Massachusetts Bay Colony." During the voyage one son was lost overboard from the rigging during a hurricane. Roger Williams was also a passenger on the Lyon.

A William Way is buried at Pemaquid.
In February 1654 at Providence, George Way asked the town meeting "to grant me comodation to bee a inhabytant with you". At a town meeting 18 February 1661, "It hath this day been declared by sufficient witnesses in this court that John Steere and George Way were received into the town after the manner that John Browne was; town hath manifested themselves satisfied therewith".
