The Garnetts and Fosters were close neighbors both living in Gloucester County. In 1692 Robert Foster, his brother John, and Robert’s brother-in-law, John Garnett along with several other families purchased land in Essex County, Virginia near the Rappahannock River. It was here in St. Ann’s Parish on Gilson’s Run (now called Mount Landing Creek) that Robert and Elizabeth lived and would raise a large family of eleven children.
