Daniel Comstock
Daniel Comstock came from England to America in 1635 with his parents and siblings. His family lived in Watertown, MA and then Wethersfield, CT. Referred to by some as "Gideon", Daniel received a free grant of 25 acres on January 29, 1646, from Providence, Rhode Island. On June 24, 1648, Daniel and other young men were arrested for giving a false Indian alarm. On December 19, 1658, New London, CT gave Daniel 100 acres of upland by the Sawmill brook. And in 1664, Daniel purchased a farm at Oxoboro, near Uncasville, some of which remained in the family as late as 1931. The Comstock Cemetery is located on this property. An inventory of his estate conducted on November 13, 1683, after his death, included: "150 acres bought of Mr. Loveland and 100 acres above Sawmill brook, also 100 acres given by the town above Sawmill brook" and forgetten in the inventory: 221 pounds, 17 shillings and 6 pence.
