This James Davidson living in Charlotte is very likely the James Davidson who moved to Missouri.
Charlotte county is right next to Campbell where he married Polly Johnson. This is closer than any other of the James Davidsons living in Virginia. All the ages and children line up with the 1830 census in Missouri. On page 16 of this census there are many Johnsons, including a James Johnson, although he is too young to have been Polly's father.
