Joseph Higbee was possibly a drummer boy during the Revolution, and one night had the honor of standing guard outside General Washington's tent. Him and his family moved to Randolph County, Missouri, from Kentucky. A church was built on Joseph Higbee's farm, and later a railroad station was made from the church. This was the origin of what is now the city of Higbee, Missouri.
