"Kittie Higbee was a daughter of Joseph Higbee, a pioneer of Randolph county, who was born in New Jersey, was a drummer boy during the Revolution, and had the honor of being appointed one night to stand guard in front of General Washington's tent."

Joseph Higbee was a soldier of the Revolution, and from Kentucky moved to Missouri, and found an early home in Randolph County. A church was built on his land, and when the railroad was constructed Higbee Chruch also became a location for a station, and the village has since been Higbee.
