MRS. W. H. MILLERHarriett Madison Jinkens [sic], daughter of Jeremiah Franklin and Margaret Jinkens [sic], was born April 10, 1854 at Lebanon Junction, Kentucky and died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Simon, April 30, 1940, aged 86 years and 20 days.Her parents came to Missouri in 1861 and settled on a farm near Memphis. She was married to W. H. Miller, March 26 [sic], 1873 and lived west of Memphis until 1910 when they moved to Memphis.Mr. Miller died in 1926, a daughter, Mrs. Estella Margaret Hammond. died in 1924, and a grandson, Samuel Miller Hammond, died in 1932.Mrs. Miller is survived by the following children: Mrs. Alta Jeanette Simon, Mrs. Louise Belle Johnson, and Charles D. Miller, all of Memphis; grandchildren; Louise Hammond Crutcher of Jefferson City, William S. Johnson of Kansas City, Chan Miller Johnson of Memphis, Mrs. Maretta Smith of Memphis and Mrs. Lenna Mae Davis of LaBelle; great grandchildren: Wm. Stanley Johnson, Kansas City, Shirley Ann Johnson and Charles Lee Smith of Memphis; one sister, Mrs. T. M. Pile of Kansas City,Mrs. Miller was the oldest continuous member of the Presbyterian Church of Memphis, having united with the church in 1871 under the ministry Rev. Bowen.Mrs. Miller was a pioneer of Scotland County. She saw its growth and advancement. Her home life was an ideal one, but she never failed in her efforts to assist neighbors in distress. Her friends, who were many, say they never heard her criticise [sic] or speak harshly of another. Her smile always spoke the welcome she so gladly gave.Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2:30 from the Pres. Church by the Rev. H. V. McColloch, former pastor here.
