He graduated from the Philadelphia High School in 1877, and from the Medical Department of the University of Pennsylvania in 1880, since which date he practiced medicine uninterruptedly except from March 1881, to July, 1882 when he was assistant superintendent of Troy Farm. Played baseball with the Germantown junior team from 1875 to 1881 and played on the University of Pennsylvania team in 1878.
